Weekly Recommendations Week 2
Up first is Emergen-C 1000mg Vitamin C Dietary Supplement. I usually get the packs that have orange and lemon sachets, you just empty a sachet in to a glass of water and drink! Not only do they taste great, but they really give a boost of energy. Well they do for me and my hubby. My sister also swears by these, and a former colleague. I buy them on www.amazon.co.uk, a pack of 24 on my last order was £12.99. But you can buy them on other sites and there are different flavours and prices.
Next are these marble look pots from Poundland, £1 per pot. They were in the bathroom section but I am using them as make-up brush holders. My daughter Gracie also uses them.
This is a restaurant recommendation. On Saturday my husband and I were at Gunwharf Quays in Portsmouth and went for lunch at Chiquitos for lunch. Well wow! we didn't want to stuff our faces, well actually we did but make the effort not to! So we decided to get some of their street food plates to share, these were Tapas style. You can get 1 for £5, 3 for £12.99 or 6 for £23.99 - we went for 6. There are 9 dishes to choose from. We picked 2 x Crispy Tacos and 1 of each of Mini Chicken Burrito, Chorizo and Sweet Potato Croquettes, Quesadilla Bites and Halloumi Bites. I also ordered a Best Margarita in The World - and it was delicious! The food, let me tell you, was so good! I would happily eat all of those dishes again. The service was impeccable as well, which always makes a difference. Our food and drinks were brought out quickly and I actually don't have a bad word to say about any of it. I 100% recommend this restaurant and I can't wait to go back - and next time I'm going to try some tequilas (might go for dinner instead of lunch though!).
This last one covers two recommendations - firstly for all you book lovers if you haven't read any Patricia Cornwell Scarpetta books you are missing out! They are brilliant. Patricia Cornwell is an award winning author who has sold over 100 million books. Kay Scarpetta is a Chief Medical Examiner and these books follow the crimes scenes that she works and the investigation that she goes through is a very short description! There are 24 books so far and I have my fingers crossed that there will be another one this year.
Leading on from this is the second part of my recommendation - Audible, which is an Amazon company. An audio book app that you download on your phone or tablet and the website www.audible.co.uk to which you pay a monthly subscription for credits which you then use to purchase audio books, or you buy the books using different payment methods. I have a 1 book per month membership which is £7.99 per month. I choose my books, download them to my app which is linked to my account and they are there whenever I want them. You can also listen online using downloadable software.
My friends take the mickey out of me for this but I find that when I am on holiday it is much easier to listen to a book while sunbathing that it is to read one. Also when on a flight its nice to block everyone else on the plane out sometimes, although the down side to this is it doesn't stop if you fall asleep! I also listen to my books while I am on the bike in the gym as its a bit boring cycling in doors.
I hope I have encouraged you to try some of my recommendations. As always let me know if you have any of your own.
